Moonlight

I decided to join in on Sew Mama Sew's Pillow month. I have a collection of lace and doileys and embroidery that I have acquired from auctions, hand-me-downs and op shops. They sit in the cupboard, alongside my fabric stash, waiting patiently for inspiration to befall me.

Today I pulled out this little hand embroidered square - maybe it was some small person's class project. It is very naive but oh so sweet. It shows us a crescent moon beaming on a tree (oranges and lemons, perhaps?), with bright red flowers at the base. I matched it with some red fabric with stars from stash. It's not chic. It's not complex. But I think it will bring a smile to ma minette's face and she will delight in sitting on it when we eat outdoors.

That's brilliant, you know. I love things made from other people's things that they never thought to make into their own thing.

If you know what I mean. I think the hipsters call it "refashioning". Or something.
